Expertise and Credentials

During his time at the National University Hospital, Dr Lee provided various treatments of the eye to patients, including cataract surgeries, cornea transplants, and both LASIK and Epi-LASIK surgeries. He also has the distinction of being one of the few specialist eye doctors in the country who hold a Bachelors, Masters, and Doctorate in Medicine.

As accomplished a student as he is a practitioner of medicine, he holds degrees in Medicine and Surgery from Singapore, along with postgraduate degrees in Ophthalmology from medical schools in both Singapore and the United Kingdom. He has also completed two fellowships. One was in the USA at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, and the other was in Toronto, Canada.

During those fellowships, he trained in Cornea and Refractive (LASIK) surgery. This is why he continues to deal chiefly with cases requiring refractive surgery when seeing patients. Moreover, he takes special interest in the diagnosis and treatment of dry eyes, contact lens problems, allergic eye disease, and similar complaints. He also has a keen interest in myopia control in children.

A sought-out speaker, he has been invited to many International Conferences to speak on various eye diseases and their treatment. Dr Lee is also an author, having published research papers in international peer-reviewed journals and serving as a reviewer of articles submitted to research journals for publication. To date, he has won no fewer than four research awards and has even been awarded several research grants from the National Medical Research Council.

All of this experience and expertise has helped us from the beginning of his time as our medical director. Indeed, Dr Lee has been with us from the very start and was instrumental in setting up Shinagawa Eye Centre in 2008, even involving himself in designing the layout of the centre, acquiring equipment, and training the staff. To this day, he remains one of the strongest pillars of our centre.
