Dr Khor Wei Boon is a senior consultant ophthalmologist with 20-years’ experience in ophthalmic and refractive surgery. Prior to private practice, he was a senior consultant with the Singapore National Eye Centre, and Clinical Associate Professor in Ophthalmology with the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School. In 2024, he left for private practice to join the Singapore Eye & Vision clinic, and is proud to be a visiting refractive surgeon with the Shinagawa Eye Centre.
Dr Khor completed his residency in Ophthalmology with the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC) in 2010, and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore. He then furthered his subspecialty training in Cornea and Refractive Surgery in SNEC, and at the Duke University Eye Center in North Carolina, USA. He went on to become a Senior Consultant with the Cornea and Refractive Surgery services in SNEC, as well as a Clinical Associate Professor in Ophthalmology with the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School. He was also Head of the SNEC Eye Clinic @ Sengkang Hospital between 2016-2022; the Director of Clinical Governance, and Chair of the Quality Assurance Committee between 2023-2024.

Beyond the Operating Room
In 2006, whilst still a resident with the SNEC, Dr Khor was part of the team of ophthalmologists that investigated an outbreak of fungal infection (Fusarium keratitis) associated with a specific contact lens solution in Singapore; along with the rest of the team, he was awarded Singapore’s first Minister of Health Award for Outstanding Performance in Public Health for his contributions.
He has been fortunate to have published in respected peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) and the American Journal of Ophthalmology (AJO); contributed chapters to textbooks on Cornea and Cataract Surgery; and has made presentations at numerous scientific meetings, both locally and internationally.
Dr Khor remains a visiting consultant and surgical trainer with the SNEC. He is also an Elected Councillor and Treasurer of the College of Ophthalmologists, Academy of Medicine, and a member of the Refractive Subspecialty Committee, College of Ophthalmologists, Academy of Medicine.
