SmartSight is a flapless refractive correction surgery that uses the KLex (Keratorefractive Lenticule Extraction) method. It is an evolution of the SMILE procedure. SmartSight incorporates specialised eye tracking and targeted technology for precise vision correction, and is minimally invasive by using a femtosecond laser.

How does SmartSight eye surgery work?

SmartSight involves the use of a femtosecond laser to create a thin layer of corneal tissue (lenticule) in the
cornea, which is then removed through a small incision. SmartSight is a type of ReLEx (Refractive Lenticule
Extraction). These procedures have been used for over 10 years (e.g. ReLEx SMILE).

STEP 1

The femtosecond laser makes a small cut in your cornea. This is done to facilitate its creation and of a lenticule or lens-shaped piece of tissue within the cornea.

STEP 2

Once the laser has cut the lenticule, your surgeon removes it from your eye through the keyhole incision made earlier. This changes the cornea’s curvature and achieves refractive correction.

What are the benefits of
SmartSight eye surgery?

SmartSight is a LASIK eye surgery similar to ReLEx SMILE, but with several refinements. Shallower incisions support a quicker recovery. Improved precision improves treatment of astigmatism and myopia. Enhanced eye tracking and pupil recognition also address eye movements and rotation for safety.
